African Mud Houses

To continue our African topic, on Forest Friday we looked at pictures of African homes. We noticed that most were made from mud, had straw roofs and were a circular shape. We gathered our gardening tools and set off to find the muddiest patch of our school field! We carried mud to the forest by the bucket load, then carefully (and safely) used our trowels, buckets and bare hands to shape the mud into an African mud house. We talked lots to our partners about how we wanted our huts to look and shared out the jobs fairly.
