We have created some amazing writing over the past two weeks and we have produced some excellent leaflets! In our writing we have used persuasive language!
Felicity, our class rabbit, has had her babies during our English lesson today! It was naughty of her not to have them in Science really, but we will forgive her! There are four babies, so we hope she enjoys the peace and quiet of the weekend and they are safe and well on Monday. We are getting an incubator in to hatch eggs in time for them to hatch in Science week(14th March). All our activities in Year 5 will be to do with eggs that week…so if you have any eggciting ideas let me know!
Well done Felicity, you clever girl! You see Ruby, you think you have trouble with one baby in the house!
Charlie Barry from our class has qualified for the National Schools XC running competition. Despite some ‘physicals’ he persevered and finished really strongly in 6th position. The finals are not so far away so we hope that Charlie’s dad continues to run him over fell and moor to train hard! A real achievement, well done Charlie! Roll on Leicester!
Our Rainforest pictures are really taking shape.
We have had an excellent visit this week from Rachel Dodgson who joined us from the Houses of Parliament. She provided us with an excellent assembly for the whole of KS2 and then delivered workshops for Year 5 and 6. During the visit we developed our knowledge of voting and debating. We have had a really challenging time which reinforced our awareness of democracy and how ourpolitical system works.
We have had a wonderful and exciting night reading parts of the first Harry Potter book. We also had an opportunity to be sorted into houses with a sorting hat! We tried out our wands, created spells and shared our favourite characters and books in the series. Thank you to evveryone who enthusiastically dressed up and got into the spirit of reading the books by J.K Rowling.
Do you know where the fruit you eat comes from? Year 2 made a colourful fruit platter and found the countries the fruits came from on a World map. Can you name the country and continent? Can you name the seas and/or oceans it crossed to arrive in England? We also tried some new fruits, such as persimmons. Delicious!
