Messy visitors!

Miss Robinson brought in two ducks and a chicken. She told us lots of interesting facts about them and even demonstrated the different calls the male and female ducks made. Which one whispers? Which one quacks?

We enjoyed tasting and comparing the duck eggs and hen eggs. Which did you prefer? Why?

Exciting Visitors!

On Isle of Coll day, most of Year 2 enjoyed a ride on one of Lilly’s ponies.

Isle of Coll

Perfect weather for our pretend visit to the Isle of Coll … wind and rain! Excitedly, we still managed to spot animals on the island, milk the cows, shear the sheep, care for the ducks and hens, do some fishing, play golf and even take a quick bike ride. Guess who got stuck in the Boggy Loch … everyone!

Easter Concert

Well done to all of our children who performed in the Easter concert. There were a huge array of musicians performing at a really high standard.  From clarinet, guitar, piano, violin to Year 3 playing brass and Year 4 perfoming recorders; all children performed superbly. There wer various solos, duets and groups pieces played. Thank you to parents and relatives who supported the event – we appreciate your support.

Easter Baskets

Kindly, Evie’s Gran came to talk to us about the Kirkby Lonsdale Gardening Association. Look at the beautiful resources she brought for us to make our own Easter garden. We loved it and are keen to enter the children’s classes in the show later in the year.

NSEW

If you need help with directions, Year 2 can help. We have our own imaginative rhymes to remember NSEW. Confidently we can set out compass and give and follow directions to find treasure.

Taking care of pets

We found out about Lottie’s basic needs to help us write our pet instructions. She was very well behaved and loved all the attention!

Remember if you have a pet:

Give it toys such as a bone or a dog teddy (James).

Take it to the vet when it’s ill or needs injections (Anna-Belle).

Exercise it twice a day by walking it (Elsie-May).

Super spellers!

Year 4 enjoy lots of different spelling activities in the morning to help them learn them throughout the week!

Science Week!

It was a really busy week in Science week. We all dressed up as ‘Mad Scientists’ on Monday, thank you parents-I know it’s been a manic time! We have researched famous scientists, conducted experiments, had real chemistry lessons at QES, had visitors and workshops and most importantly, had lots of fun.

Its show off week now! Time to shine…and have biscuits!

Bubble crazy for Science Week

For Science Week in Nursery we explored air and things which float. We had great fun trying to blow bubbles, we thought we might be able to catch them again but the wind kept blowing them away. Some of the children found they could blow large bubbles and we watched them float away in the direction the wind was blowing. For some of the children even blowing a bubble was a real challenge!
