Building dens in the woods.

We had a brilliant time up in the woods. We were trying to build Dens for Jack from Jack and the beanstalk, we used twigs for the structure and then used sheets and pegs to make sure the rain couldn’t get in. We even got to have our snack in our dens!IMG_20160506_101617

Kwik Cricket Super Stars!!

Year 5 have been getting some extra practise in Kwik Cricket, as there is a competition coming up. They are fantastic at the skills and are now getting to grips with the rules. We have been lucky enough to have a special coach in on a Thursday afternoon and even an after school club that follows the lesson. There are still a few places for KS2 children if anyone is interested. It runs from 3:15 to 4:15.

Den building in the Woods

Nursery had a brilliant morning with YR building dens in the woods, we had to work out how to fix our tarpaulins to the trees and then we built pretend fires and enjoyed our snack sitting in our dens. It was fantastic!

Rev. Snow Visit

Year 3 have been learning about prayer and Rev. Snow came in to share some of his favourite prayers.

We sang a song from the Taize community based in France.

Jack and the beanstalk

We were using the small world props to retell the story of Jack and the beanstalk. We kept the book close by to make sure we were remembering everything and put on a scary voice for the giant. IMG_20160427_134740

Paramedics

We were very lucky to have a local paramedic come into visit us. She showed us what to say when making an emergency phone call, how to do bandages, what was in her kit back and how to put on leg splints. We learnt lots of important information.

Howard Carter experts in Year 5

Year 5 have been learning all about the amazing discovery made by Howard Carter in 1922. If you ask them, they can tell you all sorts of fascinating facts! They have pretended to be Howard Carter at the end of that famous day in history, and have written a diary entry. The paper was made to look like it has a bit of history too. Please do come and read them in the classroom. You will learn something, I am sure!

Sea Monster Hunt

‘Have you seen or heard the lonely, ugly sea monster?’

‘He has green, glowing eyes like a poisonous apple.’

‘The guarded sea monster glides silently through the deep, dark ocean.’

‘His webbed hands are like my Granny’s knobbly knees.’

We’ve enjoyed being police officers and interviewing people from the story ‘The Sea Monster’ to help us write character descriptions and descriptive poetry.

Can you spot our adjectives, verbs, adverbs and commas in a list?

Mary’s Meals

Wow! Year 2 have raised £136 to help provide 13 children in Malawi with porridge (and an education) for a year. We have enjoyed watching clips of the children and school. Mr Hamlett answered lots of our questions and told us about similarities and differences between our schools. The children we saw have taught us about perserverance and respecting our toys. Visit our display in school for more information.
