The Queens 90th Birthday celebrations

What a brilliant day! We dressed in red, white and blue and learnt about the royal family. We celebrated with lots of cake and an old fashioned tea dance. We chose which activities we wanted to explore and visited different classrooms to make new friends. We ran some silly races where we had to curtsey, bow and wave like the royal family and then finished the day with an ice lolly. Perfect!

Perseverance Home Projects

We have been sharing and celebrating our perseverance home projects with each other to inspire us and learn from each experience. We have learned from an American school who have taken part in a GRIT programme to develop children’s ability to show perseverance if we face challenges.

These are some of the projects that have been shared. Thank you to everyone who talked to someone and really learned a lot about a particular aspect of their life! Click below to see some of the children and their work.

We followed this link and looked at how we could learn about GRIT

Making ratatouille

As part of our work on the book Oliver’s vegetables we made our own ratatouille. We had to carefully chop peppers, aubergine, mushrooms, celery, spinach and courgette. We added chopped tomatoes and then the next day had it for our snack. Everyone tried it, it was loved by some and not so much by others.IMG_20160519_100015

Baby Gerbils enjoying the peace of Half Term…

The baby gerbils arrived late on Friday 13th May, (they didn’t know Life Cycles finished at Easter), they are now running around and eating hard food. Year 5 will have a lovely surprise on Monday, as when we did our ‘Gerbil Maths’ last week they were still blind.

Water aid!

Year 4 have had an amazing two days raising money for Water Aid. All the teachers paid for their cars to be washed and were blown away by how clean they were! The whole class did a fantastic job with their water carry… They stayed positive and encouraged each other when it became difficult. They should be so proud of themselves as we all are!

Busy busy!!

Our ‘Kirkby Products’ projects are keeping us all very busy.

Celebrating our hard work this half term

We are very proud of our achievements and perseverance so far in Year 2. We are a great team and support and encourage each other.
