Toasting forks and sausages

After our successful session, whittling our own toasting forks. We decided that we needed to test them out for effectiveness. Up in the woods we finally lit a fire, and happily toasted our sausages over the campfire. We only lost a few sausages to the fire, but luckily there were spares.

Concorde

We had a fantastic time at Manchester airport visitor centre. You won’t believe all the fantastic things we got to see and do! We stood underneath the fastest passenger plane in the world, asking lots of brilliant questions. Then we pretended to be pilots and engineers on the flight deck of real plane and could press any buttons we wanted. It was a brilliant day!Photo Collage Maker_DAITW3 Photo Collage Maker_SKOYyH

Fun in the outdoors

This week we have been sorting animals into the 3 different groups.

Herbivores, Carnivores and Omnivores. Challenge your child to tell you what these animals eat and some of the animals in the groups.

It was a bit windy and some of the cards ended up on the roof!

Year 1 visit St Mary’s Church for a baptism

Year 1 visited the church for a baptism. Reverend Snow demonstrated how to baptise a baby. Everyone had a go at putting a cross on the dolls forehead and they used a shell to scoop the water.

Fairy Tale Worlds – Year 1

We built fairy gardens using all the bits and pieces we could find. The children were highly creative and very inspired. Their gardens got bigger and bigger with ponds, baths, bird feeders, zip wires and long paths. The children even wrote notes for their fairies …and the fairies wrote back, overnight. The children were very excited to write back to their own fairy!

Ice breaking

We had to work out how to break the ice to get the Numicon out of the middle. The children gave some brilliant suggestions – use a hairdryer, put it in the sun, make it hot and “smash” it! We used hammers to break the ice, the children loved every minute of “smashing” the ice and eventually they got the Numicon out!
