Fair Trade Coffee Afternoon

We have held another successful Fair Trade Afternoon, hosted by Mrs Neale in the Year 3 Class for all of our parents. During the afternoon children and volunteers served teas and coffee and also sold fairly traded goods from Tradecraft.  During the time we sold £91 of produce for Tradecraft and had a a great time together.  Thank you so much for your support.

New Home for the our Hens

The children have been helping take care of our hens and are doing a wonderful job. They even provided our three buff orpingtons (Joanne, Wendy and Sarah) with hanging baskets for their new home. Thanks once again to Miss Robinson helping build and look after the hens with our children.

Learning about Islam

Year 2 and 4 have had a fascinating time working with Imran Kotwal, from the Muslim Learner Service who spent time discussing the Islamic faith. The children had so many questions and really had a creative and meaningful lesson.

Year 3 visit to Kirkby Lonsdale

Year 3 spent a lovely sunny morning navigating their way around Kirkby.  They had to read maps and follow a route around the town. They painted the famous ‘Ruskin’s View’ and then they plotted the different types of shops in the town. The children were very well behaved and created some amazing pictures.

Hens have arrived!

The nursery and reception class have been helping with the school hens. The have named them, Joanne, Wendy and Sarah. The children have been learning to care fore the hens and learn what they need to eat and maintaining their water.  They have become a real hit with the children who are taking care of the three Buff Orpingtons.

Governor Day – Monitoring our School Improvement Plan

Governors have spent the day with children and staff monitoring the school improvement plan. Included in this, the governors also explored behaviour for learning, school values and breadth and balance in the curriculum. They also had an opportunity to meet with parents on the school yards in the morning.   Five of our Governors spent the day attending lessons and meetings with staff and children.

Building log pile houses

We read the “Gruffalo” story in the woods and then we made log pile houses using the sticks we found in the woods. The children each had a snake to put in their log pile house, they had to think about the size of the sticks they would need for their snake and some of the children found things like leaves and moss to make their snake more comfortable.

Parliament Loan Box

This week we have received a loan box from The Houses of Parliament. The box contains various items to facilitate a debate as if we where in the House of Commons.  This is especially pertinent with the General Election and local voting taking place in the coming weeks.
