Foundation Governor

Governor - Andy Lauretani MSc.

Andy Lauretani MSc.

My family and I escaped the south of England to enjoy the Lakes, Fells, Dales and Forests in July 2015 and we love it here!

I have over 16 years experience in School leadership and governance, now in a Cumbrian primary school; but began as a Parent governor in 2004, subsequently becoming a West Sussex Local authority governor – supporting Primary and Secondary schools providing strategic oversight and leadership.

For a living, I am an airline pilot flying the Boeing 787 (with responsibility for aviation safety & risk management; examining and reviewing operational safety, flight safety investigations, flight data analysis and oversight of broader aviation safety), a former Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm pilot and  before that a police constable.  As a young lad my school’s helped me fulfil my dream of flying and I have always seen education and learning as a privilege, I love learning and have enjoyed nearly 14 years as a governor in primary and secondary schools. I hope the knowledge and skills I have acquired, during some big changes in education, will help our school.  I have always taken the view that every decision governors make must have the pupils, staff, families and school as a whole at the forefront of their minds.  See you on the playground!
