Summer is here!

…well, it was until the weekend!

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks back at school and have fully launched into our new topics now – Romans in History and Plants in Science!

We’re really excited about our new topics this half term, and we can’t wait for the school trip – letters will be coming out next week as soon as we have coach confirmation!

In Maths this half term we are looking at revising formal written methods of calculations – column addition and subtraction, grid multiplication and bus stop division, as well as looking at measurement – m/cm/mm, kg/g, l/mm.

In English, we are reading Varjak Paw as our class guided reading book, and we are focusing on Zelda Claw – a short suspense story – in Talk for writing. So far, we have learnt the text and created a story map, and we have begun the innovation stage – changing the story to include some of our own ideas. Next week, we will begin to plan and write our own suspense stories – exciting stuff!
