Penultimate Week of Summer 1!

It’s already only one more week until half term – where on earth is time going?!

This week we’ve been enjoying as much of the weather as we can. Mrs Thomas has had us out planting in the garden as part of our science topic this term – we’ve planted beans in the Year 3 flower bed, and have some geraniums out in the garden too!

On Thursday we decided to enjoy an outdoor afternoon and had a first attempt at playing rounders with Mrs Thomas, followed by a spot of team work and problem solving by trying our hands at pitching tents – what a workout trying to get them back in the bags!!

On Friday we have been preparing for our trip to Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum by working together as a Roman army! We went into the woods and created our own shields out of sticks, string and red card. We then practised working in formation to stick together as an army with our shields. We had a great time also pretending to be the rebelling Celts and trying to fight off the Roman invaders!

Next week, it is our trip on Wednesday. Children will all need to have packed lunches and plenty of water with them. They will also need some snacks as it is going to be a long day, and to be wearing sturdy footwear for walking in the afternoon. We’re all really excited and can’t wait to go!

See you all on Monday!
