New playground marking, road marking and parking areas

Thank you for your understanding whilst we prepared for improving the markings outside of school and on the playground.  You will now see that our lay by has been properly signposted to show it primarily as a drop off zone with four parking bays (see photos).

Please do not park in the drop off zone or leave your vehicle, no matter how short a time you intend it to be.  It should be used only to drop off your children in the safe area before driving away. If you need to come on to the school playground or the school office, please park in a designated parking area, not the drop off zone.  This will help keep it clear to ensure a better flow of traffic and a safer school environment.

With regard to designated parking areas, please see the attached map (Parking Map) for the parking zones that are available around Kirkby Lonsdale. Obviously, all legal parking areas around Kirkby Lonsdale are suitable for parking and walking to school and we have the confirmation of a period of grace in both the Booths car park and New Road 2 car park, as indicated on the map.  Alongside this, we would like to remind you that Q.E.S. have kindly allowed us to use the staff car park by the AstroTurf and Lunesdale Sports Hall car park for a safe walking route to school. Please be respectful of the fact it is a staff car park and the need to keep the gates to the sports pitch clear.

Unfortunately, the zebra crossing has not yet been finished, along with the hatched markings to indicating no parking at the entrance to the lay by.  These will be completed later on this week with an initial date for Thursday.  This may require closing the lay by again, but we will update you of this when we speak to the planners on Wednesday.

Once again, thank you for your understanding in preparing for this work.  Your continued cooperation with the markings and parking areas will help keep our children safe during the busy drop off times.
